Martian Sports Skills is pleased to announce, after a Covid break since 2020,  we are please to bring back our Summer High School Skills and High School League. Our High School Programs will be held on the Campus of Merrimack College on the Main ice Surface in the Lawler rink.

SUMMER HIGH SCHOOL SKILLS - MONDAYS

Skills will be held every Monday night at 6:40 pm - 7:40 pm. The program will run for 7 weeks Starting on June 17th and concluding on July 29th.  Our program will be feature our Senior staff members, Paul Sacco (North Eastern/Stoneham HS), Connor Pellerin (Marblehead HS/USPH Florida Eels), Jerry Markham (Quebec Major/ St Mary's HS), and 1 high ranking mystery guest coach from the professional/college/junior level each week. The mystery coaches list will be revealed in early May.  Cost - $225

SUMMER HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE - MERRIMACK COLLEGE - LAWLER RINK

Limit 6 teams - 7 weeks - $2000 per team - $350 non refundable deposit required. Game times Monday (7:50 pm) - Wednesday (6:40 and 7:50 pm)

We are excited to finally announce the Summer of 2024 Skills program.

All skills will be currently held at Phillips Academy in Andover. Our Summer program will begin on 6/17 and conclude the week of 8/12 depending on your session.

This will be our 26th year. Please do not hesitate to sign up.  Our sessions are on a first come first serve basis. Once a session is sold out we will not add any additional spots.  Every year we sell out so please do not wait.

SKILLS PROGRAM FORMAT (GIRLS & BOYS)

Skills and Cross Ice Combined program for the SUMMER of 2024!!

MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, AND THURSDAY

STARTING THE WEEK OF JUNE 17th AND FINISHING BY THE WEEK OF AUGUST 12thTH

120 minutes weekly sessions, 8 weeks, Except for session #8 and #9 (7 weeks due to July 4th) PHILLIPS ACADEMY

COST $315

Martian Sports Skills will continue with our new format to our successful skills program for the SUMMER of 2024! We will expand this combination of our successful skills format and the success of the development of our Cross Ice game format to 120 minutes each week for the summer of 2024. Each player will receive 60 minutes of skills instruction weekly and a 60 minute XICE GAME EACH WEEK.

Paul Sacco , Jerry Markham, and Connor Pellerin, will once again return to run our successful 8 WEEK, WEEKLY program for mite, squirt, and pee wee/ bantam players. Each of these programs will meet once a week for 8 weeks for 120 minutes. The program is designed around the following weekly lessons:

Weekly Lessons

Week 1: Discovering your edges

Week 2: The importance of balance

Week 3: Stopping and starting

Week 4: Crossovers / quick acceleration

Week 5: Backward skating and transition

Week 6: Shooting and Stick handling

Week 7: Battle Skills and Body position/angling

Week 8 : Martian Cup

All of our weekly lessons are weekly skills are reviewed each week with the purpose of building a foundation for the young players to build on throughout the entire program.

COST IS $315 PER SESSION PER PLAYER

EACH PLAYER WILL RECEIVE A TOTAL OF 16 HOURS OF INSTRUCTION.

MARTIAN CUP TOURNAMENT 2024

Martian Sports Skills is pleased to announce that our 25th annual tournament will cap off our summer skills programs. This tournament is the highlight of all of our participants as they play for the right to carry the cup around the ice like their hero’s of the NHL. The winners will also have their name etched on the cup for future players to admire. The tournament will take place  August 5th to August 14th, 2024 depending on your session.

There will be no skills on Thursday, July 4th

SPECIALTY SKILLS SESSIONS FOR THE SUMMER OF 2024

MIDDLE SCHOOL DEFENSE & CHECKING SKILLS – 7 weeks, weekly 1 hour sessions) TUESDAY NIGHTS

Martian Sports Skills will offer a weekly checking skills program. We introduce the proper method of

checking both with the body and with the stick. We will teach the proper  defensive techniques and positioning of a player in all aspects of the game. We will separate the players by birth years to ensure safety.

Players will be taught the following:

1. Proper techniques on how to give and take a check
2. Proper angling techniques and stick positions
3. Proper way to Identify and defend passing lanes in all zones
4. Proper techniques in stick checking (poke checks and defensive use of the stick)
5. Proper body checking fundamentals along the boards and in the middle of the ice
6. Proper defensmen skills including (gap control, offensive and defensive zone awareness, proper body position along the boards and in front of the net)
7. Battle drills incorporating all techniques learned in previous weeks.

GRADES 6, 7, & 8 – 7:40  PM

MIDDLE SCHOOL STICK HANDLING & SHOOTING (6wk, weekly 1 hr. sessions) (Tuesday Nights)

Players will be taught the following:

1) Proper body and hand position when taking various shots.

2) Proper body position when stick handling in various situations with in each zone.

3) heads up play in both zones as it relates to shooting and stick handling.

4) Players will be taught 4 critical moves that will help them improve confidence and success in game conditions.

. This camp is very popular and sells out quickly. COST PER PLAYER =  $195 (Tuesday's- 7 weeks)
